Bob Jordan ’85

This week’s Bugle Call salutes Bob Jordan, Class of ’85.

An Aggie to the core, Bob has been invested in taking Texas A&M to new heights since his days as an undergrad. He married his wife Kelly, Class of ’86, as he worked toward a degree in computer science. Back then their budget was tight, but the Jordans ensured their family would always have room for Aggie Football.

After he completed a master’s degree in business at Texas A&M, Bob’s career took off when he accepted a position with Southwest Airlines, where he has worked for more than 28 years, now serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer.

Through it all, Bob has stayed grounded in the core principles that guide his success, and he encourages former and current students to give selflessly to the university. He and Kelly are members of the A&M Legacy Society, The Association of Former Students’ Endowed Century Club, and often step up to help fellow Aggies in need. The Jordans created an endowed scholarship to purchase Aggie Rings for student veterans, and they are in the process of endowing a Corps 21 scholarship for Texas A&M cadets.

Bob and Kelly celebrate their great love of Aggie football at each and every home game. The Jordan family tailgate includes 11 family members from the Classes of ’81 to 2015, and—as deep as Bob’s Aggie roots are—he made sure he passed it to the next generation of Jordans, literally: He purchased each of his children a piece of sod from the old Kyle Field to plant in their yards.

At work, Bob’s key responsibilities include oversight of the Southwest Airlines brand and the customer experience. Bob has equally protected and grown the Aggie brand through his gifts, leadership and service.
