Known as Charlie by his friends, which is pretty much everyone whose ever had the pleasure of meeting him, is the dictionary picture of an Aggie, from his military service to his strong business acumen down to his philanthropy back to his Alma Mater.
Charlie has made a difference wherever he has been. Motivated by a depression-era upbringing on a ranch near Cisco and molded by his time on the A&M campus in the Corps of Cadets, Charlie went on to serve his country in the Korean War.
After an honorable discharge, he refined his leadership skills in the oil business, making his mark within the top ranks of what was then Humble Oil, now ExxonMobil.
Humble is also a descriptive term for Charlie when it comes to giving back. Besides his family, nothing in Charlie’s life has been more meaningful to him than passing forward the opportunities he gained at Texas A&M. Charlie has funded enough Aggie scholarships—including a whopping 25 Endowed General Rudder Corps Scholarships—to help make possible the education of more than 50 Aggies.
