When you make a gift in memory of someone, it is meaningful to you and those it will later benefit in Aggieland, but your honoree is never aware of the gift. However, when you make an honorary gift, your loved ones receive the added benefit of knowing how much they mean to you.

Learn what the following gift honorees had to say when asked:

“I was certainly surprised that Janel would think enough of me and my university to honor me in this manner.  I think it is great that her gift will help train other Aggie veterinarians who can have a positive impact on animal health for many years in the future.”

-Dr. Robert Judd ’79, honored by Janel Griffey, a client of his who planned the Robert Judd ’79 DVM Chair in Veterinary Professional & Clinical Skills

“I share the honor of having this gift in my name with my brother, Joshua, who also created a gift honoring our brother, James, who has Down Syndrome. Joshua’s generosity exemplifies how James has influenced our lives, including my career path. It’s a privilege to support future professionals who may never meet our brother but will uphold the dignity of all people with disabilities.”

-Emily Rohleder, honored by her brother, Joshua Rohleder ’13, who created an endowed graduate fellowship in educational psychology to acknowledge his sister’s dedication to special needs education

“To have a former student, after 40 years, believe I played a significant role in his development is more than I could ask for as a teacher. Having this endowed chair, named in my honor, will allow the holder to help future Aggies fulfill their dreams.”

-Dr. William Bassichis, honored by a former student with the William H. Bassichis Chair for Teaching Excellence in Physics and Astronomy

“I’m glad somebody who needs the scholarship can go to school!”

-Canon Cashen (14)

“Cool, does that mean I’m famous?”

-Kellan Cashen (9)

Honored by their grandparents, Candice and Richard “Rick” Cashen ’02, who created the Canon and Kellan Cashen Aggie ACHIEVE Endowed Scholarship in the College of Education and Human Development

“The Fernandezes’ future gift of a Sul Ross Scholarship named in honor of the Laredo A&M Mothers’ Club is indeed an honor. It recognizes the hard work and dedication of all our members and the more than 70-year tradition of our club’s efforts to support Laredo students in their dreams of attending Texas A&M University and becoming proud Aggies!”

-America Paez-Miranda on behalf of the Laredo A&M Mothers’ Club, honored by Dr. Sylvia ’88 and Raul Fernandez ’59 who planned the Laredo A&M Mothers’ Club Sul Ross Scholarship
